After finding out that the Apple Airpods doesn’t work properly with Android phones, Samsung sought to resolve this issue by making high-end wireless earphones on their own. And so, the [amazon link=”B0842QKN99″ title=”Samsung Galaxy Buds” link_icon=”none” /] was born. Oozing with style, clear sound quality, rich bass and easy controls, the Galaxy Buds is definitely the right answer for dedicated Android users. Let us take a look at the details.
Features

If you are already familiar with the Apple Airpods, then the Samsung Galaxy Buds are almost the same. However, unlike the Airpods, its debut worked better. The reception was overwhelmingly positive, the features were decent and buying it did not feel like a rip-off. It may not be an eccentric pair of earphones for audiophiles but for regular users, the sound quality is through the roof.
First thing we would like to cover is the convenient design. Not only does the pair look good, it feels good as well. Each Bud is supported with high-grade rubber plugs that feel natural when you put them in your ears. Often times, rubber earphones tend to pop out once in a while especially when sweaty but such is not the case for the Galaxy Buds.
The Buds also come with a charging case – just as any SOP for wireless earphones. Sure, they may be slightly larger than the Apple Airpods but they do the trick when it comes to convenience. Put it in your pocket, in the side of your bag or even in your car’s ashtray and it will always fit like a glove.
The pairing is also one of the quickest we have seen when it comes to Bluetooth matching especially with the Samsung devices. It is still fast for other Android phones but you will need to tweak an area or two to make it find your device fast.
It also includes an assistant: the Samsung Bixby who is reliable as Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa and Apple Siri. However, there are some moments when it won’t sync well with Android devices that are not Samsung. Servicable, but still needs some improvement. Then again, there is always the slightly more expensive Galaxy Buds Plus if you are doubting on this one’s capabilities.
Design

The Galaxy Buds may not have a stretchy stem but it does look very attractive and professional. The pearlscent exterior also give off sophisticated vibes and touching the rubber does feel quite oddly satisfying.
Much like the Airpods, the Buds also rely on pressure sensors than touch sensors. That means the controls depend on how much pressure you hold on the bud. But, unlike the Airpods Pro, this is a hit or miss and you will need to take some time to understand how to get it done properly. It may sound inconvenient but the pay off is worth it. Having it around with you and with a bit of swish and flick make this quite convenient wherever you go.
Comfort

There may be times when it fits just right, while other times it feels like falling off your ears. For example, sitting around is okay; the earbuds do feel nice and natural in your ears as you listen to your favorite tune. On the other hand, when you are working out with the earbuds or dancing to your playlist, it would seem like the Buds would fall off anytime even though they never do. It may take a while to get used to this feeling but according to users, the Galaxy Plus makes the comfort better.
Also, as mentioned, yes you can use this while doing exercises but it is not the most ideal earphones to bring along with; you are better off with the JBL Free X if you want a good pair of earphones while exercising.
Sound Quality
Without any surprises, the sound quality is remarkable. Truly, Samsung matched Apple’s level of details from the bass down to the frequency ranges. The Galaxy Buds have a great balance between acoustics, dynamic bass and treble. Audiophiles may not like the warm quality but casual enthusiasts will always find it enjoyable.
Noise Cancelling

Perhaps the weakest area of the Galaxy Buds is in the noise cancelling. That’s because its focus was never on the ANC but rather on blending the music to the environment. So, if you need wireless earphones with ANC, this may not be for you. Go with the Galaxy Buds Plus, Airpods Pro or JBL Free X instead.
Battery Life
The battery life is quite decent: 4 hours of total wireless usage with 7 hours of recharging for the case. If you ever need to recharge the case, the package comes with a USB-C cable to go along with.

While it is imperfect, the Galaxy Buds stands out as Samsung’s answer to the Apple Airpods. Great price, superior sound quality and quaint convenience make this pair worth it.
